Corundum

Corundum is used in refractory materials or abrasives and its hardness is second only to diamond. The crystals are barrel-shaped, columnar, plate-shaped, etc. The melting point is 2050℃. Corundum classification: natural corundum (natural corundum is common in blue and yellow, transparent and brightly colored is called gemstone, red with trace amounts of chromium is called ruby, and blue with trace titanium is called sapphire); artificial corundum (fused corundum) and sintered corundum).
