Tabular corundum is a pure, additive-free sintered corundum with a coarse and well-developed α-Al2O3 crystal structure. Platy corundum shows a plate-like crystal structure under the SEM electron microscope. It has small pores and many closed pores, and its porosity is roughly the same as that of fused corundum. It has high purity, good volume stability, and minimal re-burning shrinkage. It is used to produce resistant products. The material or castable has good thermal shock stability and flexural strength after high temperature treatment.
Scope of application
Tabular corundum can be used as the main component in aluminum carbon, aluminum magnesium carbon, magnesium aluminum carbon, magnesium spinel, and aluminum chromium refractory bricks, or it can be introduced as a rich alumina component into high-temperature refractory bricks. Aluminum unshaped refractory materials can be widely used in steel, casting, ceramics and other industries. The application in the steel industry covers almost the entire process of iron and steelmaking.
