Brown corundum and white corundum which is good
Brown corundum and white corundum are two common corundum materials, which have their own characteristics and uses in different application fields.
1. Chemical composition
The main chemical composition of brown corundum and white corundum is alumina (Al2O3), but their content is different. The alumina content of brown corundum is about 94%, while the alumina content of white corundum is about 99%. Therefore, the hardness of white corundum is higher, and it is suitable for processing high-hardness materials such as cemented carbide, while brown corundum is suitable for processing some materials with better toughness.
The choice of brown corundum or white corundum should be determined according to the specific use scenario and requirements. If you need a material with high wear resistance, and the color requirements are not sensitive, white corundum is a good choice. If you need to have electrical conductivity or specific decorative effects, or the color requirements are more inclined to brownish-red, then brown corundum may be more suitable.
2,Grain size
The grain size of brown and white corundum is also different. The particle size of brown corundum is usually between 1-2mm, while the particle size of white corundum is finer, usually between 0.1-0.5mm. Therefore, when processing some materials with higher surface roughness requirements, the effect of white corundum is better.
3,Physical property
The physical properties of brown and white corundum are also different. The density of brown corundum is low, about 3.95g/cm3, while the density of white corundum is high, about 4.0g/cm3. In addition, the hardness of brown corundum is about 90.7, while the hardness of white corundum is about 91.8. Therefore, when processing some materials with high hardness and high precision, the effect of white corundum is better.
