What is the difference between refractory castable and refractory plastic?

1. Refractory castable

Many properties of refractory castables depend to an appropriate extent on the variety and quantity of the binder. In terms of strength, except for those made of light particles, since the strength of the particle is generally higher than the strength of the binder and the bond strength between it and the particle, the strength of the castable actually depends on the bond strength of the binder.

The fluidity of refractory castables is generally higher than that of refractory ramming materials, so most refractory castables can only be poured or re-shaken to make the mixture of components into a tight and full pattern. After the castable is formed, it is necessary to adopt appropriate ways to promote the hardening according to the hardening characteristics of the binder. For example, the cement should be protected under appropriate wetting conditions. For some metals, inorganic salts are dried, baked, and so on.

The high temperature property of refractory castable is also closely related to the variety and dosage of the binder. If the selected granular and powdered materials have excellent fire resistance, and the melting point of the binder is high and does not react with the refractory material to form a low melt, it is necessary for the refractory castable to have an appropriately high fire resistance. If the lining quality of the granular and powdered materials used is necessary, the fire resistance of the refractory castable is controlled to an appropriate extent by the binder, because most or most or even all of the fusible components are always contained in the cement stone in the casting of the general aluminate cement, so the influence of the amount of cement on the high temperature properties of the refractory castable is also very significant.

2. Refractory plastic

Refractories (plastic refractories) are amorphous refractories with high plasticity and soft paste shape for a long time. It is composed of refractory particles and finishings, binders, plasticizers and moisture. Particles and fine powder can be used for noise resistance of various materials: materials preparation, but now widely used is aluminum silicate refractory. When the particles and fine powder of aluminum silicate refractories are used to make plastic refractories, soft clay is used as the binder. In order to improve the drying strength of plastic, a certain amount of water glass, phosphoric acid, aluminum sulfate and other cementing materials are generally added to plastic. Aluminum silicate can be plastic, now widely used in various industrial furnace ramming lining and used as a partial repair of thermal equipment lining.
