New Refractory

Refractory materials generally refer to inorganic non-metallic materials with a refractoriness above 1580oC. It includes natural ores and various products made by a certain process according to a certain purpose. It has certain high temperature mechanical properties and good volume stability, and is an essential material for various high temperature equipment.

1, acid refractories usually refer to SiO2 content of more than 93% of the refractory, its main feature is at high temperature can resist the erosion of acid slag, but easy to react with alkaline slag.
2, basic refractories generally refer to magnesium oxide or magnesium oxide and calcium oxide as the main components of the refractory. The refractories of these refractories are high, and the ability to resist alkaline slag is strong.
3, aluminum silicate refractory refers to SiO2-Al2O3 as the main component of the refractory, according to the amount of Al2O3 content can be divided into semi-siliceous (Al2O3 15~30%), clay (Al2O3 30~48%), high aluminum (Al2O3 greater than 48%) three categories.
4, fusible cast refractory material refers to a certain method of high temperature melting of the compound, poured into a certain shape of refractory products.
5, neutral refractories refer to high temperature and acidic or alkaline slag are not easy to react significantly refractory materials, such as carbon refractories and chrome refractories. Some high aluminum refractories are also classified as such.
6, special refractories are new inorganic non-metallic materials developed on the basis of traditional ceramics and general refractories.
7, amorphous refractory material is composed of refractory aggregate and powder, binder or other admixture of a certain proportion of the mixture, can be used directly or add appropriate liquid deployment after use. Amorphous refractory is a new type of refractory without calcination, and its refractoriness is not less than 1580℃.
With China's accession to the WTO, domestic refractory materials and refractory products are facing the challenge of foreign long-life, energy-saving and functional new products, and the market competition is becoming increasingly fierce. In this regard, relevant experts pointed out that China's resistant material industry should speed up the optimization and adjustment, the implementation of strong combination, eliminate backward production lines, strengthen scientific research and production and management, adjust the product structure, in order to meet the needs of the development of the steel industry at home and abroad as soon as possible.
Common refractories often used are silicon brick, semi-silicon brick, clay brick, high aluminum brick, magnesium brick and so on.
Frequently used special materials are AZS brick, corundum brick, direct bonded magnesium-chromium brick, silicon carbide brick, silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide brick, nitride, silicide, sulfide, boride, carbide and other non-oxide refractory materials; Calcium oxide, chromium oxide, alumina, magnesium oxide, beryllium oxide and other refractory materials. Frequently used thermal insulation refractories are diatomaceous earth products, asbestos products, insulation panels and so on.
Frequently used amorphous refractory materials are mending, refractory ramming, refractory castable, refractory plastic, refractory mud, refractory spray filler, refractory casting material, refractory paint, light refractory castable, cannon mud and so on.

This paper introduces the latest development of refractory technology, formula design, material selection principle, process technology, mineral phase control, product performance and application technology of many new refractory products. The new refractories involved are mainly: A12O3-TiO2-SiO2 series refractories, MgO-A12O3-TiO2 series refractories, MgO-CaO-TiO2 series refractories, MgO-SiC-C series refractories, nanotechnology MgO-C bricks, MgO-AL2O3-AIN series refractories, MgO-La2O3 series refractories, etc.
