1) They are different colors. Brown fused alumina (BFA) is brown and white fused alumina (WFA) is white.
2) The bulk density of BFA is (1.53~1.99g/cm3), and the true density is (3.90g/cm3). The bulk density (1.75-1.95g /cm3) and specific gravity (3.95-3.97g /cm3) of WFA were found.
3) The main raw material of BFA is bauxite, and the main raw material of WFA is aluminum oxide powder.
4) Different chemical composition. White fused alumina Al2O3 more than 99%, Na2O3:0.3%. Brown fused alumina Al2O3: more than 90%, tertiary Al2O3 content more than 85%.
5) BFA refractory temperature 1850°C, WFA refractory temperature 2100°C.
6) Although they have a Mohs hardness of 9.0, WFA is harder than BFA, and BFA is more flexible than WFA.
Both are materials for refractory applications (mortars, crucible, amorphous refractories) or abrasive products (grinding wheels, cutting wheels, turning plates, polishing media, sandblasting media). The content of both materials is alumina (Al2O3).
