The Difference Between BFA And WFA
Brown corundum is a kind of brown artificial corundum produced by smelting and reducing bauxite, carbon and iron chips in electric arc furnace. The main chemical composition of brown corundum is Al2O3, its content is 95.0% and 97.00% respectively, and it also contains a small amount of Fe, Si,...
Brown corundum is a kind of brown artificial corundum produced by smelting and reducing bauxite, carbon and iron chips in electric arc furnace. The main chemical composition of brown corundum is Al2O3, its content is 95.0% and 97.00% respectively, and it also contains a small amount of Fe, Si, Ti and other elements. Brown corundum is the most basic abrasive. Artificial abrasive made of white corundum, aluminum oxide (Al2O3) content is greater than 99%, and contains a small amount of iron oxide, silicon oxide and other components, white.
The difference between brown and white corundum

Different uses:
white corundum is suitable for grinding fine-grained abrasives such as high-carbon steel, high-speed steel and stainless steel, and white corundum can also be used for precision casting and high-grade refractory materials. Brown corundum can be used to manufacture ceramics, resin high consolidation abrasive tools, grinding, polishing, sandblasting, precision casting, etc., and can also be used to manufacture high-grade refractory materials.
The composition is different:
although both brown corundum and white corundum contain alumina, the content of brown corundum alumina is about 95%, and the alumina content of white corundum is more than 99%.
Different performance:
Brown corundum has the characteristics of high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low coefficient of linear expansion and corrosion resistance. White corundum has the characteristics of high purity, good self-sharpness, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and stable hot state performance. In comparison, the hardness of white corundum is higher than that of brown corundum.
Different production:
white corundum is produced with aluminum oxide powder (the same raw material as electrolytic aluminum), while brown corundum is produced with calcined bauxite.
Different colors:
brown corundum is brown and black, because the content of alumina of white corundum is higher than that of brown corundum, so the color of white corundum is white.
Different raw materials:
the raw material of brown corundum is bauxite, in addition to anthracite and iron cloud. The raw material of white corundum is aluminum oxide powder.
Different objects of use:
white corundum is used by some high-end users, because it has better cutting force and very good polishing effect, it is mostly used in carbon steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, hard bronze and so on, while brown corundum is widely used in the market, and is also a large amount on the market, mostly used in fire steel, high-speed steel, high carbon steel and so on.

White corundum has a strong cutting force, used to remove metal or non-metal burrs, batch burrs and so on. It has the function of polishing the surface of the parts and belongs to the medium polishing abrasive. Brown corundum is used to remove burrs from the surface of stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloy and other hardware parts. The grind of brown corundum is not as fine and bright as white corundum.
