Mullite

Mullite, also known as mullite, is a series of minerals composed of aluminosilicate collectively, and mullite is also a mineral name, which is a mineral generated by aluminosilicate at high temperatures. It was first found on the island of Mull, off the west coast of Scotland.

The density of lightweight mullite bricks has a significant effect on many other properties, such as porosity, strength, erosion resistance, load softening temperature, wear resistance and thermal shock resistance. The density of lightweight mullite bricks is also closely related to its thermal conductivity and heat capacity.

The main component of corundum mullite brick is alumina, the main raw materials are high purity corundum and mullite, and the alumina refractory brick is composed of corundum and mullite main crystal phase. Corundum - mullite brick refers to high purity or pure raw materials made of refractory products.

Corundum bricks and mullite bricks belong to the high-grade materials in the field of refractory materials, and also belong to the alumina series. In contrast, corundum bricks have a smaller expansion coefficient than mullite bricks. Corundum brick has high melting point, stable high temperature performance and good wear resistance. Mullite bricks are similar to high alumina firebricks. There are two types of mullite, one is mullite produced at high temperature by clinker with high aluminum content, and the other is mullite brick made of extra mullite after molding and firing at high temperature.

There are many types of refractory bricks, and the expansion coefficient is different. Compared with corundum brick and mullite brick, the expansion rate of corundum brick is smaller than that of mullite.
