Brown Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) is also known as Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), named by its mainly brown color. It is produced by the fusion of high-quality Calcined Bauxite in an electric arc furnace at high temperatures greater than 2000℃. Bauxite used for producing BFA contains high Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3). After the fusion process, the materials are mixed and fused into liquid materials, then cooled down and crushed (milled) into lump sizes. The lump sizes are then ground into finer grades or powders and refined by sieving equipment into different particle distribution materials for many applications.

Production introduction

Using bauxite and charcoal (anthracite) as raw material and fused under high temperature in an electric arc furnace. The main chemical components are Al2O3 and TiO2. It also contains small amounts of SiO2 and Fe2O3, etc. The microhardness is 1800-2200kg/mm2. The toughness is higher than Silicon Carbide. Brown fused can also make fine quality refractory, etc. The refractoriness of high-alumina clinker is up to 1850℃. It has strong chemical stability and good physical properties.
Raw Material: Exploring the Source and Composition of Brown-Fused Alumina
Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) is a dense and complex material derived from bauxite. Bauxite, the primary raw material, is an aluminum ore that consists primarily of the minerals gibbsite (Al (OH)3), boehmite (γ-AlO (OH)), and diaspore (α-AlO (OH)), mixed with iron oxides and other impurities such as silica and titania.
The process begins with the purification of bauxite, where impurities are removed through washing and screening. The refined bauxite is then calcined at high temperatures to produce alumina (Al2O3). The alumina is subsequently fused in an electric arc furnace to create Brown Fused Alumina. The final product contains about 95% Al2O3, with small amounts of iron oxide (Fe2O3) and silica (SiO2).
