What Is Refractory?
Refractories are materials that can withstand high temperature, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical erosion resistance and other special environments. They are widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, construction, energy and other industries, and are an essential material in these industries.
There are many kinds of refractories, according to their different materials, can be divided into inorganic refractories and organic refractories two categories. Inorganic refractories are mainly composed of alumina, silicate, calcium oxide and other materials, while organic refractories are mainly made of organic polymer materials. Whether inorganic or organic refractory materials, they have excellent high temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics.
In the metallurgical industry, refractory materials are widely used in the lining and furnace wall of blast furnace, converter, electric furnace, hot blast furnace and other equipment. These devices operate at temperatures of up to 1000 ° C or more, requiring refractories to have extremely high temperature resistance. At the same time, the metallurgical industry also needs refractories with good oxidation resistance to extend the service life of equipment.
In the chemical industry, refractory materials are mainly used in the lining and furnace wall of reactors, kilns, chimneys and other equipment. Many processes in the chemical industry need to be carried out at high temperatures, and the requirements for refractories are very high. At the same time, the chemical industry also needs refractories with good corrosion resistance to resist the erosion of chemical substances.
In the construction industry, refractory materials are mainly used for building insulation, fire prevention and other aspects. With the acceleration of the urbanization process, the construction of high-rise buildings is more and more, and the requirements for building materials are also higher and higher. Refractory materials have good fire performance and can effectively protect the safety of buildings.
In short, refractories play an important role in various industries. With the continuous progress of science and technology, the types of refractories are also increasing, and the performance is also improving. It is believed that in the future development, refractory materials will play a more important role.
